The DFS Mould Actuation System is a hydraulic machine used for actuating large mould tools such as those used in producing the shell assembly for wind turbine rotor blades. The system enables the lifting, rotating, and clamping of the blade moulds necessary for the wind blade assembly process.
We have an in-house SCADA monitoring system that allows active monitoring of all of our mold actuation systems around the world. This allows our global service team to assist with service calls with ease, providing them with all the information they need to assist our customers.
The system is also capable of displaying historical data that allows for in-depth root cause analysis and full operational history tracking.

Hinges are actuated by hydraulic cylinders each with a torque of 450kNm, enabling a full and smooth 180-degree rotation of the mould. Learn more

Hydraulic jacks located at Leading Edge, Trailing Edge and Inside Hinge each with a lifting capacity of 19.5 tonnes that enable 150mm vertical travel of the mould.

Hydraulic clamps allow the compression of the bonding paste during the rotor blade assembly process when the mould is fully closed. The Clamping Process also allows for alignment between the PS and SS mould halves.

The DFS SW (shear web) floor station is based on pneumatic system. This system used for LE & TE shear web assembly. One type of mechanical system where pneumatic (air-powered) components are used for controlling the assembly or operation of a shear web assembly.

Shear Web Positioning Gantry utilizes actuated arms with vacuum pads as well as clamps to securely pick up and place a single / a set of shear webs from a shear web floor station to a blade production mould.

The Shear Web Alignment Jacks use a cup and cone design to align the Shear Web Gantry to the static half of the mould. The Shear Web Alignment Jacks serve both translation of the webs down onto the bonding glue, as well as clamping the webs during the curing of the bonding glue.
